Title:
Harry Blackwell, Kenneth "Ted" Keatinge, J.C. Vollrath and Erwin "Pat" Fiero beside Arthur Howe Jr.'s AFS staff car
Date:
1943
Description:
Although the verso of this photograph indicates the date as being "November 1943", Arthur Howe, Jr. was already in Italy by that time. It's possible a friend sent Arthur Howe, Jr. the photograph from North Africa, though it's also possible the month was written incorrectly. J.C. Vollrath was the president of The Vollrath Company, a company based in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, that manufactured stainless steel and aluminum small wares and equipment, and deep draw stainless steel. During World War II, Vollrath had a military contract with the U.S. Army and Navy for the production of materials needed in their war effort.
