It's possible the adjutant is Herman Webster (standing, far left.) A. Piatt Andrew's handwriting can be found on the verso of the photograph, which reads: "Our lunch party at the headquarters of General Riberpray near Pont-a-Mousson. My adjutant and I were the only guests at this hospitable table where along with the general was a colonel several captains, several lieutenants and two sergeants, and the thing that struck me the most was the comeradship of the French officers regardless of rank. The general and the sergeants nagged each other as freely  as if they [were] comrades in the line. That only happens in France."
