Kinter's margin notes: "Boys at Suthoung Pye [sic] hpoongyi [hypongyi] kyanug at Kaung tain [Taing] Village getting a jeep ride – little girls on hood are daughters of Chief Clerk at Namtu Mines, son at far left – head hpoongyi [hypongyi] put them up in hpoongyi [hypongyi] kyaung when they fled the Japs [sic] at Namtu – Quite a concession as no women are supposed to be in a hpoongyi [hypongyi] kyaung – I drove the whole family out to Kalaw & got them started back to Namtu."
