Thomas W. Shepard's Note: "This is my Company Commander Major Shah Gardezi. In civilian life he is a minor maharaja and jokingly I think told me he would make me a village chief over one of his villages. I never took him up on his offer. On the back of the picture is an inscription which I love. He called me his Friend."
